Programming Project Idea

Brad Fitzpatrick (the LiveJournal guy) mentioned a little Spanish vocabulary quiz program he wrote a while back that he still uses for other classes. I should whip up something similar in REALbasic just for the fun of it. I'm not taking any classes at the moment, but there are always various facts that I wouldn't mind learning. For instance for web work it would be handy to memorize all the CSS properties. Actually it just occurred to me that to go a step further it would be quite useful to have a program that can present graphical items as well for identification. That would be especially useful.

I should fiddle around with a REALbasic version and then try create a web based one using php or python. Should be a handy little programming exercise. Cool.

Musings

I think I may go up to Northtown (a mall fairly near where I work) and checkout the Barnes and Noble at lunchtime. Supposedly Gonzaga employees get a 20% discount at that store and I'm somewhat curious to find out if that's the case.

I haven't purchased any computer books lately and there are several that have come out recently that I'm at least curious to look at (if not buy). Zeldman's book, the new ORA Python Standard Library book, Learning Cocoa and probably at least a few others that I can't think of at the moment.

Rainy days like today just seem like a logical time to go to a bookstore.
