Besides being a great football player, Jeff was one of the senior starters on the first basketball team my dad ever led to the state championship game at Ferris High School. Jeff hadn't played much the previous year and wasn't physically what you'd call a prototypical basketball player, but his leadership and competitive nature really benefited that team. In the end they ended up placing second, but they were definitely a really special group of players.
