Shattered 17" PowerBook saga

John Manzione writes over on MacNet2 about the issues he's had with Apple over a shattered 17" PowerBook screen.
Y'know...I'm conflicted. Part of me, the part that tries to fix anything for the client says "What the hell, replace it, or at least cover the damage to the screen."
On the other hand, after looking at the picture he posted showing the damage to the screen, and I have to say, I'm really at a loss how that could have happened by accident.
I have to say that I'm leaning towards "his fault". I mean, I've slapped my current iBook 7' into asphalt and didn't even scratch the sucker, and the 17" PowerBooks feel preeeetty tough. I've certainly never managed to crack a screen.
