All-male trio face Brother boot

Big Brother 4 will see its first men thrown out of the house this Friday - with an all-male shortlist for eviction. [BBC News | Front Page]

I know, I know, to comment on reality shows, I need to first invent a time machine....

But I have to; What the hell is the difference between "Big Brother 4" and say, improv theater, with amateur actors?

I mean, it's not like they pick these people at random. That might (might!) be more like what these shows are pretending to be. Well, my ReplayTV solves all this for me, so I can watch western civilization decline second-hand, at least. :)

Whatever Happned to Mr. Garib...I mean Robb??

I miss John Robb's weblogs. He hasn't posted in a month. [The Scobleizer Weblog]

Crap, he's right! I've only been reading my Weblogs sporadically, and quickly scanning, even when I do, and hadn't noticed until Robert pointed it out. G, I hope he's okay, and just enjoying the (nicer) weather here in Boston.

The Problem with Outlook...

Adam Barr: "The problem with Outlook is it stores its data in a proprietary format, officially known only to Microsoft."

Shhh, don't tell anyone in the Office group, but this is EXACTLY why I like NewsGator. See, yeah, my .PST files can only be shared with folks who already have Windows and have Outlook loaded. But, NewsGator lets me publish data FROM INSIDE Outlook. This lets me share my knowledge with anyone who has a Web browser.

Products like NewsGator make lockin a lot less scary for everyone. Well, except for the IT department at Microsoft, who might not exactly like that I'm able to publish to the Web from within Outlook. Hmm. [The Scobleizer Weblog]

....Except that being able to post my mail on the web is no solution to lock-in, since you're still stuck using the MS mail program if you want to use your mail.

On the "Fair an Balanced"™ side, I have to add that Outlook/Entourage in Mac OS will let you drag your mail into a folder and you end up with mbox formatted files, which are ready to go into other mail programs, very nicely. Mind you, this is the MacBU of Microsoft, so take with a grain of salt.

Heeeeere's Jrobb!

A Roxio driver (something I never installed) is giving me problems (it is crashing my system). However, updates appear to be unavailable. Any ideas?

[John Robb's Radio Weblog]

Well, he's posting, and the first thing we find, is that he hasn't bit the bullet and gotten a Mac yet. :)
