Western Sandpiper and Dunlin.
A pair of Western Sandpipers stand with a Dunlin along the shore at a place called Bottle Beach along Grays Harbor in Washington. Natalie and I took photos of these birds and flocks of hundreds of their friends as the spring shorebird migration is underway along the Pacific coast...

I had to dive into the Peterson Field Guild to Western Birds to pick out the Dunlin. I am really poor at identifying small to medium sized shorebirds.
Michele and I drove through the San Luis Wildlife Refuge today. I would have liked spent a little time poking about, but we were in a hurry and I was driving to fast to look for birds. Birding at 65-70 is not for the faint of heart. (BTW, Rob that's a really nice picture, when is your book coming out?)
