Michele and I were watching the Giant's game on TV when we heard a loud thud (like concrete being dropped into a empty dumpster but louder and more ominous).
We went down to the cross street and saw a small sedan overturned in the middle of the road. There was a person walking around the car.
I ran back to the house, got the cell phone, and called it in as I walked back. Michele continued onto the car. By the time I got back to the scene, the police were arriving (I was still on the phone with dispatch as they arrived).
When I got there, Michele was talking to the driver. She was pretty shook up, but apparently unscathed. Fortunately no one else was involved. Apparently, she got distracted, the car drifted, hit the backend of a parked pickup, and flipped. During the collision, the airbag went off, which probably explains why the driver was un-hurt.
I am not sure what is going on, but that is the fourth accident near our house within the last couple of months. The have all occurred within a two block stretch on a straight residential street. Three have been at the intersections. Only one has occured at night.
Just another reminder to drive safely this weekend.
