It's an amazing concept, but apparently SI beleives that no one succeeds in sports unless a sports writer validates them. You can achieve at levels that exceed belief, but if you don't get along with the sports writers, they think your a nobody and they will tell that to the world.

Barry Bonds understands that he is the best ball player around. He doesn't need anyone to tell him that. He doesn't need a sports writer to validate him.

SI should get over their little spat with Barry and watch what he is doing.

Sit back, watch, and enjoy.

That is all that needs to be said.

I took the afternoon off to watch the Giants game. Until the ninth inning, it was the Ray Durham show. He had two homers and a double that missed going out by a few feet, and that was the Giants offense until the ninth.

The ninth inning, however, was a Barry Bonds' birthday party. In the top of the ninth, Barry threw out Craig Counsell at home plate to maintain the 2-2 tie. Then on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth Barry parked the ball into left center for the win.
