Look, the guy is jumping to conclusions here, but follow this carefully. I'm truly sad about the Torricelli situation, but then again, any belief that the American public can elect someone with true integrity is seriously misplaced. Lautenberg isn't a bad option, but have you ever dealt with ADP? Impeach Renquist? It appears that the situation in New Jersey will once again allow the Supreme Court to decide the outcome of a national election. Should the Supreme Court intervene to ensure that Forrester does not have to suffer the inconvenience of an opposition candidate there can only be one response, Impeach Renquist.
While the ability to impeach requires control of the house and it is unlikely that a conviction can be secured in the senate it is likely that impeachmnt alone would serve. Renquist would be indelibly marked in American jusrisprudence as a partisan justice who bent the law for the benefit of his party. The Renquist program of 'states rights' would be repudiated in a stroke as representing judicial perogative rather than constitutional law.
As for Forrester, New Jersey law allows for a recall election a year after a candidate has taken office. The state constitution explicitly states that recall is a political not a judicial proceeding and that no cause is required. [Bush New World Order]
