What the fuck... Shrub needs to talk to Nancy Reagan. We are at the cusp of major medical breakthroughs out of the stem cell research community, and asinine political ass-kissing statements like these will put scientists out of work. Not to mention the lurking attack on a woman's right to choose.

As for Le Carre's column: maybe it would be a good idea to offer Karl Rove a free trip on the space shuttle. We don't have to ask him for the $20 mil that Lance Bass couldn't come up with; we'd just stipulate that he had to do his job from a foreign country when he got back. It's the only way to feel any domestic impact out of the rage of the rest of the world. It starts with Rove.
