OK. I've now spoken with my birth mother for the first time. That was actually a few evenings ago, so I'm a little behind.

It turns out that I have a couple of half-sisters and a half-brother, tragically deceased. All three siblings have children, so I have a lot of nieces and nephews.

My birth father's father was apparently an economist at the UN World Bank. That's interesting!

My birth mother has cancer, which was one of the motivators for the search. So I need to go get a colonoscopy. It goes without saying that my birth mother is a strong woman, by definition. She has been a teacher, as are one of my half-sisters and her husband. That same half-sister's father-in-law was a pastor.

For those who don't know, my adoptive parents were teachers, and my mother's father was a pastor. Talk about amazing coincidences!

I'm going to be meeting my birth family soon. The Canon ZR-40 digital camcorder that I've ordered will hopefully arrive before then. I see some iMovies in my near future...
