A picture of Bugs Bunny.LA Times: "Chuck Jones, the animator who helped give life to that wascally wabbit, the portly pig, the lisping duck and the tormented coyote, died Friday in his Corona del Mar home. He was 89."  [Scripting News] As a kid in Portugal in the 50s and 60s, the highlight of any movie outing was the cartoon before the main feature. I don't remember much of most movies that I saw then, but I certainly remember the cartoons, my first introduction to the slapstick, self-reliance, self-reinvention, and speed in American culture, skyscraper downtowns, manicured lawn suburbia, woods, snowy mountains, and the desert West. For me, Chuck Jones, Tex Avery et al were the best ambassadors the United States could have had. So I'm over here now...
