I like cold, snowy winters for my skiing, but this would be too much of a good thing. The development of agriculture, cities, and most technology occurred in, and may have been triggered by, an interglacial period. Even the comparatively moderate Little Ice Age had major economic, health, and social consequences. What would be the consequences now, which much larger, denser populations dependent for warmth and food on a limited and politically unstable energy supply?
