Ballmer calls iPod users 'thieves': "Speaking to members of the press in London recently, Microsoft's Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer said that "iPod users are music thieves," according to Silicon.com..." (Via MacMinute.com.) Mr. Ballmer may not appreciate the additional damage that this propaganda does to his company's battered image. Many iPod users I know, including me, have huge CD libraries that we rip to our iPods. Indeed, the only reason I buy more CDs is to immediately rip them to my iPod. And no, I don't share these files. I resent being called a thief. Yes, he used the weasel word "most". No, that's not enough qualification given the lack of discrimination in the quotes among classes of iPod users. When my potential suppliers choose to insult me, I take my business elsewhere.
