Walking into AKA Music yesterday, I was surprised to hear a fresh, edgy rendition of Thelonious. Surprised because they don't normally play jazz, even though they have a good jazz selection. I checked at the counter, it was a 1969 session by Steve Lacy, Michel Graillier, Jean-François Jenny-Clark, and Aldo Romano, reissued in 2004 as Steve Lacy Plays Monk. Even though I have bought some 6 other interesting CDs in the last week (comments on which later), this one is taking over. 6:00:40 PM
