Did Bush camp err on ballot papers?

As seen below, this is the continuing difference between liberal and conservative:
Florida Democratic Party chairman Scott Maddox said he knew the president's certificate of nomination did not reach the state until Sept. 2, but he said he decided not to make an issue of it.

'To keep an incumbent president off the ballot in a swing state the size of Florida because of a technicality, I just don't think would be right,' Maddox said.

You can bet if the shoewas on the other foot, there would be some complaining. Until the Democrats are willing to fight hammer and tong, the Republicans will continue to roll over them. You are still a lose, even if it you are noble.  comment []5:48:29 PM

Against nicety in the popular cause

The differences beyween the way conservativs and liberals act are not recent nor are they even American. in 1820, the English essayist wrote 'On the Spirit of Partisanship', discussed in this entry. He makes many of the same complaints that liberal bloggers make today. The more things change, the more they stay the same. So, just as liberals have always been wussies, conservatives have always been fascists. (In a manner of speaking ;-)  comment []5:22:20 PM

September 11 and Its Aftermath

A very nice article placing 9-11 in it historical perspective, delineating our enemy and what they hope to accomplish. Those who state that they simply hate us are simplistic in their views. Just as the Japanese had political reasons to attack Pearl harbor, so does al Queda. That does not excuse their attacks. it simply places our response to war in a different light.

Juan Cole discusses what we have done right and what we have done wrong. To win this war will not be done easily, for it is a multigenerational war already from the perspective of the Muslim world (at least that is how al Queda wants to portray it. This is the final culmination of colonial empires). We win, not by gaining land and by supporting puppet regimes but by getting the people, those who would really support a demoncracy, on our side. A few years ago, >80% pf arabs were with us. Now almost all are against our presence. We will never 'win' as long as that is the case.  comment []2:42:18 PM
