Top team quits amid cycling woes. Lance Armstrong's former team Discovery is to disband, saying sponsors are turned off by the sport's troubles. [BBC News | News Front Page | World Edition]

Money and fame destroy a sport. The need to use any cheat to win has ruined what is actually the most grueling human sport. The best known team disbands. Less corporate sponsorship means less support for the riders. Te best Team leader retires. It will be a long time before interest across the world returns. Racing is not the onnly sport hurt by the corrupting effect of too much money and the wrong priorities - baseball, football, soccer, basketball. There is almost not a single team sport without this problem.  10:30:37 PM
