Why Do Employers Pay for Health Insurance, Anyhow?. Nobody expects employers to provide groceries, housing or clothing, but for odd historical reasons American employers have evolved into providers of health insurance. By Daniel Akst. An Early Eval Of Apple's Mac OS X 10.3. Will Panther tempt Linux users? Sure! But I don't think there will be widespread defections, given the price points of the Apple hardware required to run it. By Chris Gulker (NewsForge via MyAppleMenu) [MyAppleMenu] Mac's aren't as expensive as they used to be, though. I'm running Panther on a 400mHz iMac that is several years old, and it works fine. The only thing you need to do is make sure it has sufficent RAM (I upgraded to 512 Megs).
