I don't get it
I guess it won't surprise anyone, but I just don't understand why people get so upset about this gay marriage deal.
Is there some kind of limit to the number of possible marriages, so that if gay people use them, then straight people can't?
Does letting gay people marry devalue straight marriages any more than
does the failure rate of straight marriages? If forming solid emotional
ties with other people is good or people and society, shouldn't it be
good for everyone? If sexual promiscuity is bad then shouldn't we be
encouraging institutions that encourage fidelity? In the land of the
free, shouldn't we be free to follow the dicatates of our own
consciences and moralities? If we aren't free to follow our own
consciences and seek our own happinesses and the happiness of those we
love, what exactly are we free to do? Shouldn't we be striving to
increase personal happiness and freedom and responsibility rather than
restrict it? If it's important for children to "have mothers and
fathers" then shouldn't we be outlawing divorce?
