But, alas, it doesn't make any sense. Not one bit of it. Not AJ's post, the whole situation. What Hezbollah thinks it could accomplish by attacking Israel is hard to figure. Clearly, Israel outarms Hezbollah, and just as clearly no other government is going to step into a war against Israel. Even Syria has more sense than that. But I think they're fighting a longer-term battle, one in which Israel is even more isolated than now, and where the US is alone with Israel. Clearly, that's untenable for us. And I thought the Iraq war was supposed to lead to a new golden age in the region.
