Iraq Leader Welcomes 10,000 Turkish Troops [AP World News]
Iraq's acting president on Tuesday called for Turkey to send up to 10,000 peacekeeping troops under a U.N. mandate, providing they deploy far from Kurdish territory. The invitation contradicts the foreign minister.
Just when you find your self wondering what else the Feds could possibly do wrong--they find something! Note that the current Iraqi "president" is Ahmad Chalabi, notorious con artist and convicted felon, and the current "foreign minister" is a Kurd. I think that pretty well illustrates where this moronic idea is headed.

Bush's speech wasn't as horrible as it could have been. I wasn't expecting him to admit to his mistakes (governments never make mistakes, according to them), but at least he didn't announce any major plans to make things worse. It's just more of the same old mistakes.
I was samewhat amused to notice that his speechwriter had used the phrase, "...we will do what is necessary, we will spend what is necessary to achieve this essential victory in the war on terror...". It's an obvious ripoff of the "pay any price, bear any burden" line from Kennedy's inaugural address. For those unclear on their history, the price and the burden Kennedy gave us was the Vietnam War.
