Fountain pen nannies. HM. LOOKS AS IF SOME BRITS MIGHT BE GETTING FED UP with all that nannying. (Another courtesy of S.J.)
[Wolfesblog]
After decades when young pupils were encouraged to master penmanship, the benefits of developing good handwriting are now seen to be outweighed by the risk of swallowing the cap.
Waterman has inserted a small slip with its pens which reads: "This product is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 14 years."
Among the absurdities of this article: no mention is made of why people would mysteriously want to swallow a pen cap right up until their fourteenth birthday, at which time the urge to do so mysteriously disappears. Also not mentioned is why people under fourteen would want to swallow only fountain pen caps, and not ball point pen caps.
