Total vehicle tracking. IT'S A GOOD THING THE UNITED STATES is too big for a system like this. But I wouldn't want to live in or near certain cities if this totalitarian wet-dream crosses over the water from Britain. You know, if you ever have one of those days when you despair at how spineless most of your fellow countrymen are -- you can always gaze over at the utterly supine, compliant Brits and feel a little better about the people around you. Unless the people around you are British, that is. Then, you're screwed, pal.

The linked article is in The Register, which is not exactly known for its credibility, but in this case it doesn't matter. Total vehicle tracking can and will come to the United States--in fact, a limited version of it is already here, in the form of OnStar.
