I downloaded and read Down and Out on my Palm, and several months ago purchased the paperback (and re-read it). So, at least with me, offering the text for free didn't decrease sales of the physical item.

He also gives several reasons why he's switching back, and the bugs he points out bug me too sometimes (especially the"bug" about hi-lighting messages, and the annoyance about Mailsmith not using the system spell checker - one that regularly is able to correct some of my misspellings when the Mailsmith checker has no guesses).
