Slashdot: Running For Geeks

Running For Geeks

Interesting comments, good stuff. The weather's getting nicer here in PA - I took a run myself this evening (and the Daylight Savings Time helps!)

A script to convert screenshots to JPG format

MacOSXHints posts a tip about converting a screen shot (taken in PDF format) into a JPG. [Mac OS X Hints]

Just the other day I wrote an AppleScript to do the same thing using GraphicConverter - but oh man - this is slick.

Taking Notes

Lion Kimbro likes to take notes and develop new systems for taking notes.

Notes (and notes research) is very interesting to me - during college I always took notes with pen and notebook. I once or twice saw people trying to take notes with a PDA and keyboard, but I'm sure they fought the interface more than anything else.

Example: In your calculus class, the prof writes down a formula. Since we're talking about calculus, the formula will probably contain some Greek letters. Quick - scribe those into your electronic device... if you can remember the codes in time.
