Well, it's official: I'm doing a session at this years ADHOC. So, July 21 to July 24 I'll be in the Motor City, hanging out with a bunch of Mac people. My talk is going to be losely based on two entries on my buisness blog: (First Impressions of) PyObj-C and More PyObj-C. Now to order my tickets and register for the conference. I talked to Mike Zornek about splitting a room together this year (it looks likely). |
Use the Force Quit dialog as an application switcher The Most Dangerous Application Switcher Ever: The Force Quit Window. This may seem obvious, but bringing up the force quit window (hit Command-Option-Escape) and double-clicking one of the listed apps will bring it to the front.[Mac OS X Hints]

Impressions on the new Schick I just tried out the Schick Quattro razor. Yes, razor with the 4 blades. Short story: At first impression, I like it. I'm reserving final impressions until I use the razor more (it came with two blades, so I should have a good long time before I have to think about replenishing my supply or not) Long story: The four blades are nice, but the craftmansship of the thing is a better selling feature in my eyes. I tried the Mach-3, but I didn't like it - in your hands it felt like a very rough tool. The Quattro doesn't feel like that at all - it feels very nice in your hands. After the first two or three strokes I felt myself naturally moving my fingers to be more at the center of the shaver itself (I usually have my hand about 3/4 of the way back) - my hand didn't feel natural back there like it usually does, and about midway up the shaver felt like where my hand should be. Something else (besides hand position) sold me on this razor: the head has a bit of weight to it. Not enough weight to be topheavy, but enough weight that you can get a good flick with it. I also noticed that the blades are fairly close together. With the Mach-3 the blades are several (3-4, I'd say) millimeters apart. In the Quattro, the blades are up against each other just like a 2 blade razor is. The 2 conditioning strips help out too. I don't know if I'm at the point where I would recommend it - I want to use it for a few more days (or weeks) to figure it out completely - but first impressions are favorable. |
