On Extending HTML

Today in a blog entry Dave Hyatt answers a rather important question:

A few people have written me expressing concern over the extensions that Apple has made to HTML in order to support Safari RSS and Dashboard. I wanted to explain what we've done and hopefully clear up any confusion.

Thanks for clearing this up, Dave. While I wasn't one of the people who wrote you, I was kind of concerned. It seems to me like enough browsers have implemented custom stuff that us poor web designers have to work around, or figure out a way to take cross-browser. I'm glad Safari is (mostly) staying with "de-facto standards."

Of course, the chances are slim-to-none that WinIE will ever implement the 2 new elements you are proposing to the standards committee. Thanks IE.
