It was another beautiful day in New York. It was 90+ degrees so my friend Ruby and I took the Q to Brighton Beach for some sun and lunch. We had lunch at the "Winter Garden" on the boardwalk and then walked to Coney Island. This is my idea of a day at the beach. I don't like to sit in the sand (at today's temperature I am sure it is only a few degrees away from being molten glass), or bake in the sun; but lunch under an umbrella and a walk down the boardwalk is just right for me.
Along the way there is lots of sun and food,

Most people at the beach came with someone else. They came with their children,

Went to Long Island City (Hunterspoint) to view the fireworks this year. It was the best spot since 2000 when they were in the Hudson River. I could see all four barges with plenty of concussion noise. The view was unobstructed by an overhead highway like it is in Manhattan. The structure in the picture is the Long Island City end of a freight car float for the Long Island Rail Road (I think).
