Growing Neural Networks
Seems to me that one use for grid computers could be to grow and optimize neural networks. For instance, one function of a networked neural node would be to find the top x5 best node neighbors. This would involve discovering new nneighbor odes, then ranking them based on round-trip ping times. The fasted neighbor nodes would become the best candidates for forming a neural tree. Neural trees could be linked to process data. Each network neural node would continually discover new nodes, re-assess its top neighbor node list, and learn from back propegation. The hope is that, by continually adjusting the node tree, the node tree as a whole remains up, even when certain nodes within the tree go down (dropped connections, etc.).

Alexandra Jewel Fried
My slacker friends Tal and Dina tell me that they gave birth last Friday (2002-06-29) to a beautiful baby girl, Alexandra Jewel Fried, measuring 6 lbs and 19 in. Congrats to the happy new parents, and welcome Alexandra! We have a nice jewish boy for you to meet :-)
