The enterprise wireless data market is still in its formative stages, but it is being pursued by technology vendors and wireless service providers eager to claim a piece of what will become a multi-billion dollar industry. In the U.S., revenues for wireless field service solutions alone will increase from $700 million currently to $2 billion by 2006. However, the Yankee Group corporate surveys demonstrate that there are technical barriers stifling the enterprise adoption of wireless data solutions. In addition, the surveys show that enterprises are interested in a ?LAN-like? experience that closely resembles their corporate LAN networks.
