David Heinemeier Hansson wrote an excellent response to all the negativity about AJAX that we've seen in the blogosphere recently.

We all know that lots of great developers were using AJAX to build great apps WAY before it was called AJAX. But that's no reason to put down the people who are evangelizing the principles, and bringing AJAX to a whole new set of users and developers.
