2003 Denver Mayoral Election
Here's a story on the Mayoral election from the Denver Rocky Mountain News covering campaign contributions. Zavaras is way out in front followed by Mares. The candidates with the money are downplaying the advantage while the candidates with less money are saying they are not at a disadvantage. Yeah, right. The story mentions Mayor Webb's win over Norm Early even though Early was flush with dough. They also mention that Federico Pena holds the spending record at 1.7 million. I remember that election and the huge anybody but Pena vote. A republican, Don Bain, came close to knocking him off.
No mention of Dwight Henson the homeless guy running for Mayor. I think he's been too busy trying to get his 300 signatures to get on the ballot. He may file next Wednesday when the reports for January are due. I've been looking for you on the 16th Street Mall, Dwight!
