2003 Denver Municipal Election Issues - New Jail The overcrowding of the current jail and the need for a new jail is the subject of this article from the Denver Post. They frame it as a problem the new Mayor will have to face. They're wrong, it's a problem the new Mayor and Council will have to face. This should be one of the subjects discussed when you are talking to the candidates this year. From the article, "Only two mayoral candidates support buying the building, and none have firm ideas about how to address the crowded jail." Better get some ideas. Maybe the Feds'll bail us out.
