2003 Denver Municipal Election

More than 40,000 absentee ballots have already been requested by voters for the May 6th election. This phenomena is changing campaign strategy. Here's a short analysis from the Denver Rocky Mountain news along with the Election Commission phone number for requesting a ballot.

Here's the link to today's Rocky column The Stump.

2003 Denver Mayoral Election

Security is the subject of this short article from the Rocky Mountain News. Mayor Webb's security detail is under question. Is it too much? Several of the mayoral candidates comment.

The first time you land on the Denver Post's Politics page you will get a chance to vote in their straw poll. Right now Susan Casey is leading the pack, followed by Don Mares, Penfield Tate, John Hickenlooper, Ari Zavaras, Phil Perington, and Elizabeth Schlosser. I guess that indicates the distribution of voters that use the web, maybe.

There is now an official write-in candidate for mayor, Gary Cooper. Here's the DenverGov link. Mr. Cooper is concerned with making the Denver "People Friendly" again since we're a great city because of the people, "not government, not business." He's also worried about media bias. He might be right here. His campaign has not been covered by the Post or Rocky. Mr. Cooper certainly will win the award for the best beard in the election.
