Ed Cone - Political Party Weblogs

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has a weblog, The Stakeholder.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has a weblog, From the Roots, on which actual Senators have been known to post.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has a putative blog that is not very bloglike.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has a mere news page. Some red-meat content on the website (e.g., a "Stop Hillary Now!" page, complete with an option for email alerts to let you know when Hillary eats another baby, or whatever it is she does that drives these folks so batty), but nothing very tech-forward.

Why are the Dems so far ahead in blogging?

Does it matter?

2004 Presidential Election

Today is the Wisconsin primary.

South Knox Bubba has a list of President Bush's accomplishments in his first term. Thanks to TalkLeft for the link.

Meanwhile Blogs for Bush is gushing about what President Bush learned from Lincoln.

The fiscal health of the nation is an election year issue. Josh Marshall comments on President Bush's fiscal performance.

Mike Littwin writes that he is hopeful that the Matt Drudge's attempt to dig up dirt on John Kerry has failed, in his column in today's Rocky Mountain News [February 17, 2004, "Littwin: News outlets regurgitate Kerry 'story'"]. Says Littwin, "Yeah, you guessed it, it's a story about Matt Drudge. And if you're not feeling dirty yet, you will. Just read on. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't have the Drudge Report bookmarked and you don't listen to Rush Limbaugh and you decided against taking the cheap winter flight to London. For the most part, the mainstream American media ignored this story, which wasn't a story. But it was getting harder each day - particularly when John Kerry goes on Don Imus' radio show to deny it. Even the gossip-leery New York Times, although well inside the paper, and then only briefly, felt obligated to mention Kerry's denial of an affair. Yes, of an affair no one had ever alleged." Here's a link to the Drudge Report.
