Colorado Water
Pueblo and Colorado Springs will no longer bicker over water from the Arkansas river. They signed an historic agreement yesterday, according to the Denver Post [February 12, 2004, "Pueblo, Springs sign agreement on Arkansas River pipeline project"]. From the article, "For the past several months, Colorado Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera and Councilwoman Margaret Radford have been meeting with Pueblo's elected officials to work out an agreement. The agreement also calls for the two cities to work more closely on economic development, transportation, tourism and air quality issues. 'I see this agreement as the beginning of southern Colorado being a force to be reckoned with in Colorado and the West,' Radford said. 'This is a whole new future for southern Colorado.'" Great, another force to be reckoned with in Colorado Water.
Water was the issue in the Mayoral election last year on this date. Sadly the Rocky links are broken. The Denver Business Journal's link is still alive. Thank you DBJ. That's why the 'Ol Coyote includes the story title and date from the Rocky and Post now. That's the best I can do for my readers is to make sure that they have the information necessary to retrieve articles from the newspaper archives. Request of the Rocky and the Post. Please don't let your links rot.
