Here's a report about the Arkansas Basin Roundtable meeting this week from the Pueblo Chieftain. From the article, "A Pueblo County commissioner wants Fountain Creek improvement discussions brought into the Arkansas Basin Roundtable process to bring all viewpoints to the table. Meanwhile, El Paso County officials say a current 'vision' process is on track and has a better chance of reaching some sort of answer than past efforts. A steering committee met last week following September[base ']s summit on Fountain Creek. The summit focused on a concept by U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., to turn Fountain Creek into a 'crown jewel' with improved water quality, a state park and preservation of ranching heritage."

Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: "The Colorado Riverfront Foundation has pledged $25,000 in hopes of buoying the effort to build a whitewater park in the Colorado River at the mouth of De Beque Canyon. Foundation members met shortly after the 'Make Waves' campaign for the whitewater park started up last week, said Pat Kennedy of the foundation board. The organization voted unanimously to 'prime the pump' for the whitewater park with the pledge, which brings donations or pledges for the park to approximately $58,000, Kennedy said...

"Palisade has taken the lead in working with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation on the whitewater park proposal. Local and federal officials hope to work together to build the park as the federal agency builds a passage for endangered fish in the Colorado River past the Price-Stubb Dam. The bureau, however, can't build the whitewater park, so the town and a private organization, the Western Association to Enjoy Rivers, are trying to raise $175,000.Organizers hope that amount, along with money they aim to get from the Mesa County Commission and Great Outdoors Colorado, will be enough to pay the difference between the fish passage alone and the combined passage and whitewater park."
