Here's an article about Referendum K from the Rocky Mountain News. They write, "A referendum that would instruct the Colorado attorney general to pursue a lawsuit against the federal government to demand that it enforce existing immigration laws is admittedly a symbolic gesture. And that's the point, argued proponents Wednesday of Referendum K, which, if passed by Colorado voters, would direct Attorney General John Suthers to initiate or join other states in a lawsuit against the U.S. government charging that it's not doing its job of securing the country's borders."

Here's a story about support for Amendment 43 from the Rocky Mountain News. From the article, "When a Focus on the Family- backed group set out to rally voters to outlaw gay marriage in Colorado, it was Lt. Gov. Jane Norton's voice calling them to action. And last week, the Republican lieutenant governor joined the resulting conference call with Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council to discuss get-out-the-vote efforts with them. With a pair of questions related to same-sex couples on the Nov. 7 ballot, Norton has taken a significant, if quiet, role in the fight to uphold what she calls the 'uniqueness of marriage.' Norton said Thursday that her support for a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage is influenced both by her concerns about gay couples adopting children and her Christian faith. 'If we really don't take a stand now, it's really a matter of time before we lose the uniqueness of marriage. If we lose the uniqueness of marriage, we lose a fundamental building block of society,' she said...
"Jim Pfaff, head of Colorado Family Action, said he asked Norton to be involved because she is someone whom supporters would respect because of her reputation for supporting families. He declined to give details on whether her involvement increased interest in the campaign. Norton's husband, former U.S. Attorney Mike Norton, filed the legal paperwork setting up Pfaff's group, which is supported by Focus on the Family and its public policy arm, but Pfaff said he approached Jane Norton directly about doing the call."

Count the American Judges Association amongst the opponents of Amendment 40, according to the Denver Post. From the article, "The American Judges Association on Thursday announced its opposition to Amendment 40, the proposal that would term-limit justices of the Colorado Supreme Court and judges of the Colorado Court of Appeals.
The association is the largest independent group of trial and appellate judges in the United States, with about 2,000 members, including 20 in Colorado...[Steve] Leben said the judiciary relies on the wisdom and maturity of judges as the source of its strength in defending constitutional rights. Andrew Armatas, a member of the association and the presiding judge of the Denver County Court, said Colorado's existing system for choosing and evaluating judges has been carefully designed to keep politics out of the process."
