Denver November 2004 Election
Senator Wayne Allard sent his short list of recommendations for U.S. Attorney to the President, according to the Denver Post [December 17. 2004, "3 Republicans on Allard's short list for U.S. attorney"]. The vacancy was caused by Governor Owens' appointment of the current U.S. Attorney, John Suthers, to the unfinished term of outgoing Attorney General Ken Salazar. Those recommended are, "Troy Eid, former legal counsel to Gov. Bill Owens; Jim Peters, a career prosecutor who is the district attorney for the 18th Judicial District; and Stu VanMeveren, who has been district attorney for the 8th Judicial District for 32 years."
