An Opener Ended

A picture named 20020413_AnOpenerEnded_P4130231_425.JPG

My trusty key-chain opener has been retired. Notice the warn-off, jagged, bottom edge (seen on top in this picture) which has made it inoperable to all but the wimpiest of bottles. And you know how we feel about wimpy beer.

The opener was most recently called out by demand at the Padres Home Opener and it was evident then that it's days were numbered. It served well in opening many fine ales in non-screw top bottles, the finest ones were usually the hardest to open and the most demanding of the opener. It gave a little piece of itself with each brew it enabled friends and I to partake of.

I believe this particular opener was from the Full-Sail Brewery in Mount Hood, Oregon. That was a great weekend trip with Paul and Barb, which also included an unexpected visit to the opening-day ceremonies for the expanded Widmer Brewing facilities. I have a great picture of Paul and I shaking hands in front of the same-dated plack (sp?) announcing the new facilities...looks like we're congratulating each other on our new venture...hehe!

Bye Bye Opener.
