History lessons: In its early days radio went through a boom/bust period not unlike what Internet companies are going through now (in their bust cycle). Read through the stories of some of the original San Francisco and Bay Area stations for a sense of how flaky the whole thing was during the Roaring Twenties. It's terrific history in any case.

Making streaming as hard as possible: That's the idea behind the Copyright Office's proposed rulemaking regarding streaming media content recordkeeping and reporting by both broadcasters and listeners. Radio Horizion has a list of this stuff, and it's just fucking unreal. If anybody has a link to the rulemaking proposal itself, let us know. And thanks to Tom for the link.
