Movie Review: One Hour Photo
Robin Williams does his best at being Sy, the bad guy in this Mark Romanek (left) post 9/11 suspense thriller. Well, it should have been a thriller, or a slash 'em up, or something! Instead we are left with a series of pretty pictures, filmed in a wonderful high key white on white look that will have you hanging around Target stores looking for all kinds of perversions. The story though is more than a little weak. And to add injury to insult, Williams' confession at the end belittles the true damage that real child abuse can wreak.
Go see this movie for a look at how to compose and shoot snapshots that look like art, but if you're looking for suspense, thrills or blood (not in a dream) then save some money and rent Hitchcock's Psycho and enjoy a little mayhem that doesn't require a make-it-all-better, happy ending.
One Hour Photo also stars Connie Nielsen, Michael Vartan and Dylan Smith as the stalkees, Gary Cole as the evil boss, Erin Daniels as the hottie, and Eriq La Salle as the conscience.
