I just re-upped with Radio - marking the completion of my second year of publishing 101-365, baby. Too bad I keep getting the 'It Didn't Work' page:

then,

The Userland websites are down, so I'll try again in a little while, but if this blog goes black ... well, it's been real.

PS. Click the coffee cup in the upper left corner of this page to visit the Radio Userland site.

Why do catalytic converters cost so much? Is it the cost of the catalyst metals?

The war ...

Dave Winer points to an article by Micah Sifrey which, in turn, points to a year old article by Josh Micah Marshall about the motives behind the war in Iraq.

Marshall portrays a group of 'neo-cons' - new conservatives, who have foregone the old conservative ideal of live and let live, instead attempting to impose a democratic utopia on the rest of the world. The war, it seems, is being waged as a step toward a new order in the Middle East, where a contigous block of large and powerful, pro-American states influence the entire region to forego feudalistic terrorism in favor of democracy. Then, when that fails, we take over and occupy the region, administering the oil rich nations "for the good of the region".

Silly me. I thought it was about vendetta and greed.
