Ugo Cei: Sam suggests that I truncate descriptions in the RSS 0.92 feed to the first paragraph: something that looks straightforward to implement in XSLT.  Yes, the XSLT is the easy part.  The harder part is to change your style so that the first paragraph is meaningful.  Otherwise you end up with entries like the following:

This is addressed in the most simplest and elegant way possible in the way in O'ReillyNet - there are separate <textarea>s for the description and text in the form used to create weblog entries.  This is in addition to the <input> area for the title and <select>s for the categories.
