Be afraid, be very afraid...
The Venezuelan government is extremely shaky with the general strike tomorrow. They have being appearing on television (using the national emergency system) constantly today and have announced they will be continuing tomorrow. They are obviously desperate.
Yesterday the president fire the highest executives from the oil company (PDVSA) and show his complete ignorance with the salary structure in Venezuela, he divided the anual salary by 12 and said that's the monthly salary. Traditionally in Venezuela the annual salary is a whole package including a lot of different payments other than monthly payment and including benefits. My salary, for example, is divided by 16.5.
He also said that he could substitute all the workers in PDVSA. Can you imagine such stupidity?

Saddam's Offensive. Sixty Islamic terrorists, trained in Afghanistan by Osama bin Laden, are holed up in the town of Biyara in northern Iraq, guests of Saddam Hussein. By William Safire.Ever since that debacle, we have protected the Kurds and they are grateful for our air cover. As a result, they have built the only democratic government and rudimentary free-enterprise system in the Middle East since the birth of Israel. Contrast the Kurds' recent progress with that of Palestinians [~] a people burdened with corrupt leaders, kept in squalid refugee camps for generations by Arab despots and fed a diet of hatred.
