So, the Power Mac G5 based, Virginia Tech made, supercluster, also known as the Big Mac, made number three in the list of most powerful computers. What is the first thing I hear in mailing lists? "Oh, that list is irrelevant." Has it always been or is irrelevant now that Macs are numbre three (ahead of any Intel based)? In Philosophy of Science there is a term for what is happening. The believes that "Macs are slower than PCs" and that "Macs are more expensive than PCs" are not falsifiable. If Apple comes up with a 1$ super computer more powerful than the Earth Simulator, some people would still say... "Yes, but... that's irrelevant..." People are funny like that.
