By the way, this is the first time in 14 years or so that I do not have a paper submitted or one nearly finish... weird...

Milan loses to Deportivo! Deportivo needed 3 goals to zero to pass (and eliminate Milan), it scored 4! I guess nothing is worse than over confidence. This is very sad... except.. I got a paper accepted!

Almost three years after sending it, with a lot of revisions and back and forth, The Indiana University Mathematics Journal has accepted, what is right now, my latest paper (join work with the great Marek Kosiek from Poland), well, almost, we still have to make some rather minor corrections. It is, without doubt, our greatest result so far and my greatest achievement as a mathematician. The title of the paper is: On common invariant subspaces for commuting contractions with rich spectrum and the main result states that any n-tuple of commuting contractions with rich spectrum (Harte's sense), having the polydisk as a spectral set has a common nontrivial invariant subspace. This is a bigger result that the one I failed to achieved in my thesis more than twelve years ago. It's like a life cycle has ended for me. I have to say I'm proud of myself, though most of the merit belongs to Marek who continued to fight for the paper after I have mostly given up. It also shows how difficult the result is. Yes, the paper is almost unreadable, even to specialists in the field. Hopefully future work will shed light onto what is behind this result. The consequences of this result are not trivial and may form part of my future research... I'm still a mathematician after all!
