My sister shows her happiness on my nephew's graduation yesterday. I saw it via a webcast.

Today I can, finally, spill the beans about my future. About two months ago I decided enough was enough and talked to my wife about the possibility of transforming a 6 months sabbatical she was holding since last year into a full year of leaving with, perhaps, an extension. So, two weeks ago I went to the big boss to give him the news and try to make a gracious exit. Basically, we engaged in a negotiation and the bottom line is that I will stay. My wife and kids will go to Newcastle, UK and spend the year there, I will go there as much as I can to be with them (already negotiated). The plan is that they will go for a year. It's not a perfect solution, but I believe it is the best in term of stability and, hopefully, future growth. It is a compromise, I will not be with my family, but my wife will enjoy a full sabbatical leave and my kids will spend a year in a civilized nation, learning english and living organized for a while. They will not run the risk that Venezuela imply next year and if I have to run away, it will be only me and I will know where to go. I will spend a bit more than I should this year, but I hope to make it back in the future... What can I say? At some point you have to settle down... at least for a while...
