The BBC is reporting how Cisco curbs security researcher. Previously, a security researcher, resigned from ISS in order to talk about flaws in the Cisco's routers that control the internet, but now he has agreed never to talk about flaws in Cisco software. Security expert Bruce Schneier Weights in the matter, but seems to have outdated info. It is impressive what the guy did and I understand him backing down. The flaw is still there and I wonder if Cisco will be held liable if something happens. Also, I think the guy deserves a job and I will support any company that hires him, even if it's Micro$ucks... I think it will increase its credibility on security if they hire such a whistle blower. How about it, Scoble? As it is, I can't trust Cisco on security issues. Update: He is now facing a FBI probe, when vulnerabilities are "trade secrets" and whistle blowers of insecurities are criminals, security does not exist. Pity the, so called, "blogosphere" has been awfully quiet about this issue...
