I just noticed that the iPod update Apple dish out last night doesn't work on 3G iPods, what does that mean? It doesn't mean the 3G iPods do not get the podcasts, only the shuffles have been stiffed. I have no idea what it means. My airport card has spent two days very seriously dead.

After experiencing suffering Solaris 10, I think SUN should step back from all operating systems development. Yes, they should just sell empty boxes (NT Boxes?). It is really disgraceful how little SUN has kept with its own plans and promises. Who do they think their clients are?

So, my laptop is really sick. Seems to be the Airport Extreme card, so I can't connect wirelessly. Of course to discover that I had to reinstall the system completely which creates all sort of minor problems. I haven't stop using the machine or anything, but I am posting less because I am working on it. That's why I haven't said anything about iTunes 4.9 and its podcasting support. It is nice, but not espectacular. Apple is not solving the bandwidth problem, it is even not helping much. For example, Some podcast come as a bittorrent file, the podcasting program (ipodder for example) would download the file and maintain it for sharing with others. iTunes currently doesn't understand podcasting files. There is also no way to subscribe to a non public podcast. Why that may be useful? Well, there is a lot more you can do if you know the podcast wil only be heard by particular people. So, even though I will start using iTunes to manage my podcast, I'll have to keep ipodder for now, to maintain certain features. It's not bad, but substandard for Apple.
