Just a nod to Providence (Divine, not R.I.) for making me press the button at the precise moment to become Radio 8 subscriber 1930 (so this URL is radio.weblogs.com/0101930) ... both my mom and dad were born in 1930.  May I live half as gracefully and admirably as they, and hope to make them proud — no, not of this silly Web page, of me as a person.

20-0: The awesome University of Connecticut women's basketball team continued its undefeated season with a 93-60 victory over Villanova this afternoon.  Go Huskies!  I'm convinced that the women's game, particularly the amazingly unselfish team rather than individual-highlights version played by UConn, is far more interesting than the men's -- see the 7-footers lope upcourt and dunk, lope downcourt and dunk, leave the court for functionally illiterate life as bling-bling NBA millionaires.  Sue Bird, Swin Cash, Diana Taurasi, and Geno Auriemma and Chris Dailey rule.  Pat Summitt is the bride of Satan.

"Restless" is a Carl Perkins song from Emmylou Harris's live album "Last Date" (1982), a rockin' number with the Hot Band.  I quoted it because it's the first song I play on a new car stereo, and you can't break a bottle of champagne over a Weblog — didn't want to begin with "test" or "Let's see if this works."  As you can tell, this site promises to remain meaning- and content-free.
